Associate Medical Technologist
Reporting to the Medical Technologist, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Process and analyse clinical specimens via molecular testing methods following standard operating procedures (SOP)
- Perform patient sample handling and processing, including whole blood, buccal swab, saliva, tumour and normal tissues
- Perform DNA / RNA extraction from various clinical tissue samples
- Perform quality control (QC) and library preparation, and operate next / third generation sequencing systems and other laboratory equipment and analysers
- Assist in developing new protocols and evaluating new sequencing technologies and analysers
- Perform daily and routine laboratory operations, equipment maintenance and calibration
- Perform cell culture work
- Participate in research and development
- Assist in implementation of quality control, documentation, internal audit and external quality assurance programmes to meet the accreditation standard
- Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Requirements:
We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Associate Medical Technologist who possesses:
- A bachelor’s degree of Science or relevant in medical laboratory sciences, biochemistry, biology or related disciplines.
- A certificate of Registration (MLT Part II) and a valid Practising Certificate issued by the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board, Hong Kong (MLT Board)
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in genetic research laboratory or medical laboratories with provision of genetic testing
- Preferably with 2-3 years of working experience in short and / or long-read sequencing technology, including QC and data analysis
- Experience in quality management systems, such as quality assurance, development of SOP and operation manual

Genomics and Transcriptomics Analyst
Reporting to the Single-Cell Sequencing and Multi-omics Scientist, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Perform tertiary analysis of whole genome sequencing (WGS) and RNA-sequencing data, including variant filtering, prioritisation, and classification according to current international standards, selection of clinically reportable variants, and drafting reports
- Assist in data mining and interpretation of genome and transcriptome sequencing results to support research activities and manuscript preparation
- Conduct experiments involving single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, including sample processing (e.g., tissue dissociation, embedding, sectioning, staining, and imaging), and library preparation and sequencing
- Analyse single-cell and spatial transcriptomics data, and contribute to workflow optimisation and the development of new methodologies
- Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Requirements:
We are seeking high-calibre candidate for the post of Genomics and Transcriptomics Analyst who possesses:
- A master’s degree or above in biomedical sciences, genetic sciences, health sciences, medical statistics, biological sciences, or a related discipline
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in tissue and cell culturing, sample handling, DNA/RNA extraction, and PCR techniques
- Proficiency in analysing and interpreting next-generation sequencing (NGS) data for clinical diagnosis, including both genomic and transcriptomic data
- Experience in contributing to manuscript preparation and scientific writing
- Experience in histology and tissue handling techniques (e.g., sectioning, staining, and imaging) would be an advantage
- Good written Chinese and English, and fluency in spoken Cantonese; strong written English is an advantage
- Strong collaborative mindset, effective communication skills, and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team

System Analyst (Application Development)
The System Analyst (Application Development) is a key technical expert responsible for the end-to-end development, integration, and maintenance of HKGI’s clinical applications and bioinformatics platform. This role combines hands-on development, system architecture, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure our platforms are scalable, secure, and resilient.
Reporting to the Senior Manager (Projects and Operations), the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain clinical applications and build internal and external APIs to extract data and integrate with applications across on-premises and hybrid-cloud platforms
- Enhance the bioinformatics platform for scalability, high availability, and security
- Implement and manage automated CI/CD pipeline tools to streamline workflows related to patient recruitment, analysis requests, and statistics reporting
- Oversee the administration of critical application databases, managing system access control and operator accounts to uphold security standards
- Collaborate closely with the project management team and key stakeholders (doctors, nurses, and clinical professionals) to gather user requirements and ensure the timely delivery of projects
- Support the daily operations of Hong Kong Genome Project (HKGP), including post-release testing and on-site support when necessary
- Create automatically generated reports for statistical analysis and application monitoring
- Develop and execute manual and automated test cases to ensure system quality and reliability, supported with relevant documentation
- Provide technical advice to the team and mentor junior staff
- Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Requirements:
We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of System Analyst (Application Development) who possesses:
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
- At least 6 years of post-graduate experience in application and/or backend development
- Hands-on experience with frontend and backend API development with React.js, Node.js, PHP, Java, Springboot, Nginx, and messaging systems such as RabbitMQ
- Solid experience in database administration and schema designs with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, or equivalent
- Proficiency in scripting capabilities in Linux environment
- Proven hands-on experience with Docker containers, K8s, and CI/CD tools (e.g. GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of system design principles for building and maintaining large-scale systems
- Proven experience working in a sizable organisation with supervisory experience
- A mature, self-motivated attitude with a determination to succeed
- Good organisation and communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset
- Ability to work independently with effective time management skills
Preferred Attributes:
- Prior experiences with mission-critical systems, particularly in a clinical or healthcare setting
- Familiarity with automated testing tools for code quality and vulnerability scanning (e.g. JMeter, Jest/Mocha, Selenium, and Semgrep)
- Knowledge of public cloud services and API gateways
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Trello)
