Executive Assistant

 

Reporting to Senior Manager (Corporate Secretariat), the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide executive support to Senior Executives of HKGI
  • Manage the meeting and appointment schedules of Senior Executives of HKGI and assist in handling enquiries as required
  • Assist Senior Executives in handling correspondence and perform record management duties for the Senior Executives
  • Organise and provide logistic support to committee meetings
  • Provide support to the branches of HKGI on daily operations

Requirements:

We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Executive Assistant who possesses:

  • A university degree with no less than 4 years’ work experience; Diploma / secondary school certificate holders with substantial years of relevant experience in supporting C-level executives will also be considered
  • Relevant work experience as Executive Assistant to Senior Management in sizable organisation or public body would be an advantage
  • Proactiveness, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently in a start-up environment

Bioinformatics Pipeline Engineer

 

Reporting to the Bioinformatics Pipeline Solution Specialist, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Set up and maintain computing platforms for bioinformatics pipelines
  • Manage data of genomic scales and conduct bioinformatics analysis
  • Manage and improve bioinformatics pipelines under the HKGP and ensure their quality
  • Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Requirements:

 

We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Bioinformatics Pipeline Engineer who possesses:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics or related disciplines
  • Proficiency in working in Unix/Linux environment
  • Familiarity with source code management systems (e.g., Git)
  • Familiarity with open source Linux tools

 

Preferred Attributes:

 

  • Experience with processing bioinformatics data
  • Fluency in Linux command line and writing shell scripts
  • Experience in HPC (High Performance Computing) clusters and use of job schedulers (e.g. Slurm, TORQUE, SGE, PBS) on HPC clusters
  • Knowledge of AWS (Amazon Web Service) platform
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking and NFS

Associate Medical Technologist

Reporting to the Medical Technologist, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform DNA / RNA extraction from various tissue samples
  • Perform quality control (QC) and library preparation, and operate next / third generation sequencing systems and other laboratory equipment and analysers
  • Perform daily and routine laboratory operations, equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Perform cell culture work
  • Assist in implementation of quality control, documentation, internal audit and external quality assurance programmes to meet the accreditation standard
  • Assist in developing new protocol and evaluating new sequencing technologies and analysers
  • Participate in research and development

Requirements:

 

We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Associate Medical Technologist who possesses:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree of Science or equivalent in medical laboratory sciences, biochemistry, biology or related disciplines
  • A Certificate of Registration (MLT Part II) and a valid Practising Certificate issued by the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board, Hong Kong
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience working in genetic research laboratory or medical laboratory with provision of genetic testing
  • Preferably with 2 years of working experience in short and / or long-read sequencing technology, including QC and preliminary data analysis
  • Experience in quality management system, such as quality assurance, development of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and operation manual

Research Officer (Bioinformatics)

Reporting to the Senior Bioinformatics Officer (Bioinformatics Unit), the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Involve in variations calling and genome assembly in large scale genomic project. In particular, tuning the pipeline to ensure good accuracy
  • Analyse genomics and omics data to discover disease-causing variants
  • Provide support in bioinformatics analysis and data management of different omics projects
  • Manage and improve the algorithm, computing method and hardware infrastructure under the HKGP
  • Supervise junior bioinformatics staff and provide training for laboratory and clinical staffs on bioinformatics
  • Supervise the work of the selected vendor(s) and monitoring and overseeing the progress and quality of setup of the bioinformatics platform
  • Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Requirements:

 

We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Research Officer (Bioinformatics) who possesses:

  • A PhD degree in computer science or bioinformatics, or related discipline. Should have work experience related to bioinformatics.
  • Proficiency in working in Unix/Linux environment; formal training and experience with coding (e.g. C++, Python).
  • At least 4 years or more experience in analysing whole genome sequencing datasets in large scale genome project.
  • Experience in genome assembly from short-read and long-read datasets.
  • Experience in method development and algorithm optimisation.
  • Experience in genome annotation
  • Familiarity with publicly available human genomic resources, e.g. NCBI, Ensembl, ClinVar, UCSC and other open-source resources would be an advantage

Reporting to the Manager (Infrastructure), the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

  • Provide direction and implement Information Technology (IT) infrastructure for the Hong Kong Genome Project within allocated resources
  • Plan, direct and coordinate infrastructure projects to ensure operational and backup requirements are met
  • Regularly monitor and check infrastructure projects for integrity and security
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues on IT infrastructure

Requirements:

 

We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Assistant Manager (Infrastructure) who possesses:

 

  • Preferably a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related disciplines
  • Preferably 5 years’ work experience in IT, of which at least 3 years in IT Infrastructure
  • Solid experience in system administration of inhouse on-premises and cloud environment
  • Familiarity with Cloud products, resources, and resilience setup
  • Familiarity with Linux-based servers, virtualisation and container software such as Kubernetes and Docker Containers
