Officer (Corporate Communications)

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, the incumbent will perform the following responsibilities to promote the communication of the HKGI and enhance public awareness of genomic medicine and HKGI’s work:

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct news and social media monitoring, and research for market news and policy updates
  • Draft and translate bilingual promotion materials; follow through the production of corporate publications, such as annual report and patient recruitment materials
  • Support online promotion, manage update and content development of corporate website and social media
  • Work closely across teams to support the implementation of publicity campaigns and public education initiatives
  • Build and maintain communication database and channels, such as stakeholder list
  • Provide administrative support to the team
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by senior officers
Requirements:

We are seeking high-calibre candidate for the post of Officer (Corporate Communications) who possesses:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Languages, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related discipline
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in corporate communications, publication or related fields; experience in sizable public organisation or PR agency will be an advantage
  • Experience in printing, production and event management; good art sense; proficiency in design and video production software will be a plus
  • Good knowledge in digital marketing and management of social media platforms
  • Familiarity with web applications such as WordPress; experience in website design and build will be added advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Self-motivation, detail-orientation and willingness to learn; ability to work independently with minimum supervision

System Engineer (Application Support)

Report to the Manager (Infrastructure), the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

 

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and optimise Linux server environments, including Red Hat and Ubuntu distributions
  • Maintain data storage clusters, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy technical solutions
  • Provide timely troubleshooting and resolution for system-related issues
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations and procedures
  • Work closely with external vendors to ensure data platform delivery and other deliverables meet standards
  • Provide non-office hours and on-site support when necessary
  • Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Requirements:

 

We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of System Engineer (Application Support) who possesses:

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • At least 3 years of experience in server administration, data centre operations and AWS cloud
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments, particularly with Red Hat and Ubuntu distributions
  • Experience in scripting languages such as Java, Python, BASH, and Perl
  • Strong understanding of storage technologies and solutions, with experience in OneFS and Dell PowerScale

Assistant Manager (Human Resources)

 

Reporting to the Manager (Human Resources & Talent Development), the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide full spectrum of Human Resources (HR) services to align with and support business objectives
  • Monitor recruitment processes, including job description creation, resume screening, interview scheduling, and pre-employment checks
  • Manage employees’ life cycle, from onboarding to offboarding
  • Work closely with internal and external parties for day-to-day HR operation and administration;
  • Monitor employee performance management and salary review process;

Medical Technologist / Associate Medical Technologist

Associate Medical Technologist Reports to the Medical Technologist
Medical Technologist Reports to Lead Scientist (Genome Diagnostics and Precision Health)

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily and routine laboratory operations, equipment maintenance and calibration
  • Process and analyse clinical specimens by molecular testing methods following standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Extract DNA/RNA from clinical tissue samples (e.g., whole blood, buccal swab, saliva, tumour, and normal tissues) and perform cell culture work
  • Conduct quality control (QC), library preparation and operate next / third generation sequencing systems, laboratory equipment and analysers
  • Assist in implementing QC, documentation, internal audit and external quality assurance programmes to meet the accreditation standards
  • Aid in developing new protocols and evaluating new sequencing technologies
  • Participate in research and development activities
  • Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers

 

Additional Duties for Medical Technologist

  • Monitor laboratory daily operations, workload, quality, and quantity for HKGP
  • Supervise and train AMT in research and development
  • Evaluate and develop methodologies in cell culture, conventional and molecular cytogenetics and molecular genetic tests
  • Assist in preparing SOPs, evaluating method and instrument and developing next/third-generation sequencing technology

Requirements:

Associate Medical Technologist

  • Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory sciences, biochemistry, biology or equivalent
  • Certificate of Registration (MLT Part II) and a valid Practising Certificate issued by the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board, Hong Kong (MLT Board)
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in genetic research laboratory or medical laboratories with provision of genetic testing
  • Preferably with 2 years of working experience in short/long-read sequencing (QC and preliminary data analysis) and quality management systems (e.g. developing SOPs and operation manuals)

 

Medical Technologist

  • Master’s degree in biological sciences, laboratory sciences, or related disciplines
  • Certificate of Registration (MLT Part I) and valid Practising Certificate issued by the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board, Hong Kong (MLT Board)
  • Preferably at least 3 years of relevant experience in an accredited medical laboratory with provision of conventional cytogenetics and molecular genetic testing
  • Preferably with 3 years of working experience in short/long-read sequencing (QC and data analysis) and quality management systems (e.g. developing SOPs and operation manuals)

Assistant Manager (Project Implementation) - Expired

Dual reporting to the Genome Curation Scientist for the scientific and technical aspects of genomic solution, and to the Manager (Clinical and Research Operations) for project management matters, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development and implementation of a system for tracking the receipt and processing of samples, ensuring the efficient management of sample lifecycle, from intake to downstream analysis
  • Plan, design and administer the implementation of genomic solutions for the Scientific Branch to optimise the quality of data analytic workflow, with a view to expand and introduce new solutions at different stages of sequencing data processing
  • Develop and enhance training materials for the genome curation alignment of practice to train new joiners and to ensure internal knowledge of curation is up to date and standardised
  • Work closely with external parties such as vendors, suppliers and auditors to ensure smooth communication and coordination regarding genomic solution implementation

  • Fluency in spoken Cantonese and English; strong written English and Chinese skills are advantageous
  • High proficiency in using presentation software, project management tools, data analysis software, and graphic design tools
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination, including developing and tracking project plans, timelines, and budgets

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and managing genome curation platform for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data
  • Support the research officer in developing processes or models for variant prioritisation
  • Receive training in tertiary analysis for whole genome sequencing (WGS) data and assist in data mining, curation and interpretation of genome sequencing results following current international standards
  • Generate plots and figures to assist in the presentation of results
  • Conduct basic literature reviews, research, and perform related clerical duties

Requirements:

We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Research Assistant (Genome Curation) who possesses:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or above in Biomedical Sciences, Genetic Sciences, Health Sciences, Medical Statistics, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline
  • Basic knowledge and experience in research studies, with a willingness to receive on-the-job training
  • Familiarity with NGS technology and its data formats is preferred
  • Proficiency in coding in Python or R, and data-wrangling skills such as extracting information from VCF files and manipulating data structures are desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Cantonese (spoken) and English (written); strong written English is an advantage
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration mindset
  • Experience in genome research resulting in publications in international peer-reviewed journals is preferred
  • Knowledge or experience in the analysis of cancer genomes, single-cell sequencing, and long-read sequencing data is a plus
