Senior Research Assistant (Genome Curation)
Reporting to Research Officer (Genome Curation), the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Perform tertiary analysis for whole genome sequencing (WGS) data in accordance with international guidelines
- Mentor and train junior staff in tertiary analysis methodologies, including variant filtering, classification, and selection of reportable variants
- Conduct cohort analysis to identify trends and correlations within genomic data, contributing to the understanding of population variations and disease associations
- Prepare and present findings in multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings, effectively communicating complex data insights to a diverse range of stakeholders
- Assist in the development and management of the genome curation platform for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to support ongoing research projects and inform best practices in genome curation
- Collaborate with the research officer to develop and refine processes and models for variant prioritisation
- Conduct advanced data mining, curation, and interpretation of genome sequencing results, according to current international standards
- Participate in research and development activities, contributing to the advancement of genomic research practices
- Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Requirements:
We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Senior Research Assistant (Genome Curation) who possesses:
- A bachelor’s degree or above in Biomedical Sciences, Genetic Sciences, Health Sciences, Medical Statistics, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline
- At least 2 years of experience in genomic research or a related area, with a strong focus on tertiary analysis of NGS data and familiarity with NGS technology
- Proficiency in Python or R, with data-wrangling skills for manipulating VCF files
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for complex data interpretation
- Excellent communication skills in Cantonese (spoken) and English (written), with the ability to effectively present findings, especially in MDT settings
- A collaborative mindset and strong teamwork abilities
- Preferred experience in genome research with publications in peer-reviewed journals, and knowledge of cancer genome analysis, single-cell sequencing, or long-read sequencing data
- Experience in patient care, clinical research, and digital health technologies is advantageous

Remuneration:
Successful candidate will be offered attractive remuneration and be appointed on an initial two-year contract (subject to mutual agreement for contract renewal).

Key responsibilities
- Manage and optimise Linux server environments, including Red Hat and Ubuntu distributions
- Maintain data storage clusters, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy technical solutions
- Provide timely troubleshooting and resolution for system-related issues
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations and procedures
- Work closely with external vendors to ensure data platform delivery and other deliverables meet standards
- Provide non-office hours, on-site support and application support when necessary
- Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers
Requirements:
We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of System Engineer (Infrastructure) who possesses
- Preferably a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- At least 2 years of experience in server administration and data centre operations
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux environments, particularly with Red Hat and Ubuntu distributions
- Knowledge in storage technologies and solutions, preferably in Dell PowerScale and OneFS
- Experience in scripting languages such as Java, Python, BASH, and Perl
- Preferably familiarity with Strum or similar Linux applications
- Preferably knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, network, cloud platforms, security infrastructure or AWS cloud
- Ability to effectively integrate new knowledge into practice
- Proficiency in both spoken and written English and Chinese

System and Infrastructure Manager (Risk Management) - Expired
Reporting to the Project Lead of the Security Risk Assessment and Audit (SRAA) project, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of the SRAA process, ensuring ongoing compliance with internal policies and standard operating procedures.
- Organise and implement activities to identify control gaps and mitigate technology risks as part of the SRAA exercise, including evaluating vulnerabilities, testing system resilience, and conducting drills.
- Perform assessments on systems and infrastructure to maintain robust IT risk management.
- Establish requirements for information protection during application, system, and network implementations, in accordance with industry best practices.
- Support IT operations related to governance and assurance, including access management, monitoring, incident response, and reporting, aligning with the objectives of the risk assessment and audit programme.
- Manage the day-to-day operations related to IT risk management, overseeing event monitoring, vulnerability management, and performance optimisation of tools and systems.
- Provide recommendations to management on advancements in technology, emerging threats, and preventive measures through continuous research, contributing to the enhancement of the risk assessment and audit processes.

- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related discipline
- Experience in supporting and executing security risk assessment and audit processes, including knowledge of methodologies and tools utilised in these processes.
- Strong understanding of IT risk management principles and practices, including risk assessment, mitigation, and control implementation.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and frameworks related to IT risk management, such as ISO 27001.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and developing risk management strategies for IT systems, applications, and infrastructure.
- Familiarity with IT security technologies and controls, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, access controls, and vulnerability management tools.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess potential risks and vulnerabilities in IT environments.
- Professional certifications in IT risk management, such as CISA, CISM, CISSP, CEH, CDPSE.
