Manager (Finance)
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the annual budget and Committee papers, including consultants with various stakeholders and detailed explanatory notes
- Compile quarterly financial reports, forecasts, summaries and Committee papers, supported by detailed analysis and relevant documentation
- Conduct research and develop meeting materials for various taskforce initiatives
- Prepare the annual audited financial statements and financial report, including detailed schedules, and liaise with external auditor
- Review payment processes and cash flow forecasts and monitor budgetary control
- Assist the procurement function in accordance with procurement guidelines
- Manage insurance matters, including renewal, update and claims

Requirements:

- A university degree in in accounting, finance or related disciplines
- Qualified membership of HKICPA or equivalent professional qualifications
- At least 8 years’ post-qualification experience in accounting and finance work in sizable organisations

Manager (Procurement)
Reporting to the Senior Manager (Finance), the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement function in accordance with HKGI’s procurement guidelines
- Oversee the full procurement cycle with operational efficiency, including purchase requisitions, supplier sourcing, quotation analysis, purchase orders, and supplies management process
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and prepare tenders, quotations, contracts, purchase orders and related documentation
- Liaise with vendors to ensure compliance with procurement workflows and requirements, negotiating pricing, terms and contracts conditions as appropriate
- Conduct evaluations of tenders and quotations, prepare recommendation reports and supporting documents for management approval
- Manage appointed vendors, review performance evaluation of the vendors in collaboration with internal stakeholders
- Review and update HKGI’s procurement guidelines on a regular basis to ensure relevance and compliance
- Provide coaching and on-the-job training to junior staff
- Perform any other duties assigned by senior officers

Assistant Manager (Communications and Public Affairs)
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Communications, the incumbent will perform the following responsibilities to enhance HKGI’s brand awareness and foster public understanding of genomic medicine by planning and implementing a wide range of publicity initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement publicity projects to publicise HKGI’s latest development and achievements, such as press briefings, corporate events and visits, as well as production of corporate publications and videos
- Develop news angles and pitch for media opportunities proactively to promote HKGI
- Build and maintain strong relationships with mass media and key stakeholders
- Conduct daily monitoring of local and international news and industry updates across media platforms
- Draft, edit and translate bilingual communication messages and materials, such as press releases, line-to-take, media Q&As, speeches, advertorials, social media posts, corporate presentations, website and annual reports
- Identify appropriate channels or platforms to engage target audiences and promote HKGI’s work; follow through the projects from planning and procurement to successful delivery
- Assist in preparing meeting materials for Committee and Board meetings
- Support the Corporate Communications team’s administrative operations

Requirements:

- A university degree in Communications, Languages, Public Relations (PR), Public Administration or related disciplines
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in corporate communications or related fields, including at least 3 years in an in-house role. Experience gained in a sizable public organisation will be an advantage
- In-depth knowledge of public affairs, a strong media network, and solid experience in media relations and issue management

Research Officer (Population Genetics) - Expired
The Research Officer (Population Genetics) supports and drives research projects related to population genetics. This position is responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and post-GWAS analysis in different cohorts under the Hong Kong Genome Project (HKGP). The incumbent will also work closely with sequencing service providers to ensure high-quality genomic data for research output.
Reporting to the Lead Scientist II (Health Informatics), the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Manage data analysis for population genetics research projects independently
- Conduct Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) on whole genome sequencing (WGS) to identify genetic variants associated with common and rare diseases under the HKGP
- Evaluate and adapt existing public polygenic risk score (PRS) models for common and rare diseases
- Develop novel Chinese-specific PRS models utilising HKGP’s GWAS findings
- Conduct Mendelian Randomisation (MR) analysis utilising HKGP’s GWAS findings to infer causal relationships between genetic variants, risk factors, and disease outcomes
- Evaluate and improve quality control processes for genomic data generated in collaboration with HKGI’s major sequencing service providers to ensure high quality of data for downstream research
- Contribute to various research and operational projects
- Perform any other duties as assigned by senior officers
Requirements:
We are seeking a high-calibre candidate for the post of Research Officer (Population Genetics) who possesses:
- A master’s degree or above in bioinformatics, biomedical science, genetic science, or a related discipline
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in bioinformatics and sequencing data analysis
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or conferences in the field of genetics or bioinformatics
- Familiarity with sequencing technologies and data formats from major sequencing service providers
- Proficiency in coding for large data analysis with a strong understanding of statistical methods in genetics
- Demonstrated experience with advanced genetic analyses, including GWAS, PRS development/evaluation, and MR
- Exposure to various types of sequencing data is considered a plus
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic research environment
