{"id":5783,"date":"2022-11-17T12:50:30","date_gmt":"2022-11-17T04:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hkgp.org\/?post_type=board_of_directors&#038;p=5783"},"modified":"2025-11-25T16:37:04","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T08:37:04","slug":"professor-wong-yung-hou","status":"publish","type":"board_of_directors","link":"https:\/\/hkgp.org\/en\/board_of_directors\/professor-wong-yung-hou\/","title":{"rendered":"Professor WONG Yung Hou"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Professor Wong is the Dean of Science and Chair Professor of Life Science at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).\u00a0 He also serves as the Director of the Molecular Neuroscience Center, and as an Associate Director of the Biotechnology Research Institute and the Center for Aging Science at HKUST.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Professor Wong obtained his PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Cambridge and conducted postdoctoral training at the University of California San Francisco.\u00a0 Since joining HKUST, his research has been focused on the delineation of the mechanisms of cell signalling, particularly those involving drug receptors.\u00a0 Professor Wong has integrated his scientific endeavours into drug discovery and development in collaboration with pharmaceutical companies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As an accomplished researcher, he has published over 220 scientific articles and received a number of awards, including the Croucher Senior Research Fellowship and the Medal of Honor. \u00a0Over the years, Professor Wong had served as a member of the Medical Council of Hong Kong, the Consumer Council of Hong Kong, and the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong (Biology and Medicine Panel).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He is currently serving on the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Council and the Advisory Board of Hong Kong Life Sciences Society. \u00a0Professor Wong is also a consultant for The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, multinational companies, and local secondary schools to promote biotechnology.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":7170,"template":"","board_of_directors_cat":[53],"class_list":["post-5783","board_of_directors","type-board_of_directors","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","board_of_directors_cat-board_nonofficial","entry"],"acf":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":{"enabledWorkflows":[]},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/hkgp.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/board_of_directors\/5783","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/hkgp.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/board_of_directors"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/hkgp.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/board_of_directors"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hkgp.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/7170"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/hkgp.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=5783"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"board_of_directors_cat","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hkgp.org\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/board_of_directors_cat?post=5783"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
